Residential Service Notice

To All Customers of Smart City Telecom:

The FCC is continuing the Lifeline for voice only through December 1, 2022.  All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Smart City Telecom offers Lifeline service to qualified customers.  Lifeline is a non-transferable, federal benefit that makes monthly telephone or broadband service more affordable. The program is limited to one (1) discount per household.  Eligible households may apply the monthly Lifeline discount to either home or wireless (i) broadband service, or (ii) voice service, but not both.  Lifeline customers also have the option to apply the discount to a service bundle, such as home telephone and home Internet.  The Lifeline voice service also includes toll blocking to qualifying customers without a charge. Based on the income-related eligibility criteria described below, you may qualify for this program.

The current discount provided under Smart City Telecom’s Lifeline service is $9.25 per month for qualifying services for each month that the customer qualifies. Customer’s that subscribe to voice-only service or a bundle with broadband that does not meet the minimum service standards will receive a discount of $5.25. A household is eligible for the Lifeline discount if the customer’s annual household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines.  You may also qualify for the Lifeline program if a customer, a dependent, or someone in the household participates in one of the following federal assistance programs: Medicaid; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)) formerly known as Food Stamps); Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8); Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit.  In addition, if you are no longer eligible for Lifeline, Smart City offers Transitional Lifeline service which is a discount program that will continue for one (1) year after you no longer qualify for the regular Lifeline program.
